can a law firm legally remove negative items from your credit report?

I have maybe 3 negative items on my credit report, and I am thinking of hiring a law firm to remove them. I've searched and found a couple that do a monthly service, but I wonder if they remove them temporarily or permanently. anybody with experience in this arena?
